Shellfish Licenses & Information

The Town, in conjunction with the Shellfish Committee, regulate some areas in Town (others are controlled by the State of Maine) open to shellfish/clam harvesting with proper licensing for residents and nonresidents, in accordance with Town Ordinance. Commercial licenses are unavailable at this time.

Annual Shellfish Applications/Licenses 

  • Available beginning June 1, 2021 at 9 AM and expire May 31, 2022. 
  • Applications are processed by the Town Clerk on a first come first served basis. 
  • Resident Recreational Fee: $10.00
  • Non-resident Recreational Fee: $20.00
  • Fees are waived for applicants sixty-five (65) years old or older and twelve (12) years old or younger. 

 

72 Hour Licenses

  • Available to any person
  • Entitles the holder to dig and take not more than one peck of shellfish in any one day for his or her personal use. 
  • Fee: $15.00

 NOTICE

August 1, 2021 through August 31, 2021: Shellfish Conservation Area Open for One Month: Mill Cove area, which at Cape Jellison bridge west to Campbell's Point (DMR red-painted post); south of the river that flows out of Mill Pond.
